We are delighted to work with some of the Region’s leading law firms on the traditional side of our business. Through our relationships with these firms we learned about the legal industries requirement to store closed matter files for the designated time period dictated by the SRA.

It became clear that this was typically being done either at considerable cost using an outsourced physical storage facility, or if the closed matter files were being managed internally; valuable office space, basements or further capacity was being rented. Irrespective of where the closed matter files are stored, retrieving a file and getting it to the solicitor that needs it can take a number of days. We knew that we had the technology that would reduce costs and give authorised users instant access to closed matter files. So with significant input from our legal clients we gained a clear understanding of the SRA’s requirements for a firms “Closed Matter File Policy” enabling us to develop and launch a Digital Closed Matter File solution.

Scan Legal offers a scan bureau facility that can be used to convert index and upload existing physical files into the digital archive. The facility can also be used on an ongoing basis for all closed matter file archiving, alternatively this can be done in house using existing scanning hardware.
